A lot of people seem to have an aversion to crate training, it has those connotations of zoos and cages, but crates are really just indoor kennels really and are a safe place for your dog to hang out and relax.

If you introduce your puppy or dog to a crate from when they are young they tend to prefer their crate as a safe place over most other places, this means that they should never be used for punishment. They are a safe place for the dog, you’ll need a separate space if you want to give your dog a time out.
